Cylindrical and on three silver-gilt pomegranate feet with panels of foliage above, the scroll handle chased with foliage and with shield- shaped terminal and double pomegranate and foliage thumbpiece, the hinged cover engraved with a cypher within finely engraved birds, fruit and foliate scrolls the body later engraved with the Prussian Royal arms with Prussian Royal crown above and presentation inscription, marked on base

This early 18th century tankard was engraved and presented to Prince Wilhelm by members of his household on the occasion of his marriage in 1881.

August, Count Eulenburg (1831-1912) was Hofmarschall to Prince Wilhelm. General Albert von Mischke (1830-1906) was Generaladjutant, Karl von Normann (1827-1888) was the Prince's private secretary and later Hofmarschall. Gotz, Count Seckendorff (1842-1910) was Hofmarschall to Prince William and later to Empress Frederick and von Pannwitz was Flëgeladjutant the Prince.
