Both seated on tree stumps issuing from rocaille-moulded bases enriched in gilt and applied with flowers, the shepherd wearing a feathered hat, pink jacket and yellow breeches, patting the dog at his left; the shepherdess wearing a pink hat, green-lined yellow jacket and flowered skirt a lamb at her right; both holding a posey in the opposing hand
