For a discussion of further plates from this service, see Ilse Baer in Das Flora Danica-Service (Copenhagen, 1999), pp. 252-260. This plate is from an unidentified botanical service produced at the same time as the famous Château de la Malmaison service supplied to the Empress Joséphine. The frequent use of the same graphic sources as the Malmaison service has led to much mis-attribution, and it is currently thought that this plate is not from the Empress Josephine service, as previously supposed.

Far right, Étienne Pierre Ventenat's botanical illustration for the same publication.
