Charles Vincent Bara, maître in 1754, or Pierre Bara, maître in 1758.

With its tall, sinuous frame delicately carved with multiple mouldings, this bergère demonstrates the elegant style of the menuisiers Charles Vincent and Pierre Bara. A closely related bergère is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 45. A closely related bergère was sold by Le Roy/de Ricqles, Paris, 8-9 July 1997, lot 194 (FF 88,000 inc. premium), while a virtually identical example was sold from the estate of the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, 23 April 1996, lot 331 ($ 18,500 inc. premium).
