The sighting of a red fruit floating down the river is thought to be an extremely auspicious sign and will bring the witness great fortune, as recorded in the Chengshi Moyuan, the Inkcake Garden of the Cheng Family, a pattern book for inkcakes edited by Cheng Junfang of the Ming Dynasty.
