The elongated arms, casting of the face and simple treatment of the robes of the present figure are similar to a gilt-bronze figure of Buddha dated to the Sui dynasty, which is the main figure in an altar group illustrated by S. Matsubara, Chugoku Bukkyo Chokokushi, Japan, 1995 reprint, vol. II, pls. 513-520.
