Private Thomas Day volunteered for the 2nd Battalion, 59th Foot direct from the Tipperary Militia in November 1807 and served in the Peninsula from September 1808 until March 1809, including the Corunna operations. Following garrison duty back in Ireland and in Jersey, he returned to Spain in June 1812 and was present at Vittoria in June of the following year. Listed at this time in the musters as sick, he was invalided home in March 1814 and discharged to a pension in February 1815, possibly as a result of wounds. Day died in Ireland in December 1860.
