The case on later turned gilt-metal toupie feet supporting foliate carved brackets beneath a shallow moulding to the frieze applied with foliate pierced gilt-metal mounts (one side mount contemporary, the remaining three of later date), the realistically cast rampant lion with its jaw articulated to the striking hour, later brass Roman dial with single steel hand, the re-gilt trellis engraved base with calendar and alarm dials, the rectangular brass movement with going barrels for the strike on a bell and for the going train with platform cylinder escapement, the backplate stamped d'Aureville Paris
