The bowfronted rectangular top with concave front, with rounded rectangular gallery to the reverse and sides, above a mahogany-lined frieze drawer and a shaped arch, flanked on each side by two short mahogany-lined drawers, on turned tapering reeded baluster legs headed by rectangular panels, brass caps and castors, the knob handles replaced, with remains of printed paper label '... Andover ...', the gallery reduced in height

In 1813 Gillows of Lancaster supplied four very similar dressing-tables to William Powlett, 2nd Baron Bolton (1782-1850) for Hackwood Park, Hampshire at a cost of £8 16s 6d each. They were sold from Hackwood, Christie's house sale, 20-22 April 1998, lots 356, 358, 359 and 360. Gillows supplied another 'Handsome Mahogany five drawer Dressing Table' to Richard Gascoigne for Parlington Hall, Aberford. It is now at Lotherton Hall, Leeds (illustrated in C. Gilbert, Furniture at Temple Newsam House and Lotherton Hall, London, 1978, vol. II, p. 380, fig. 500).
