A compilation of treatises by Piso, Georg Marcgraf and Jacobus Bontius on the natural history of Brazil. Regarded as a pioneer of tropical medicine, Piso was a Dutch pharmacist who served as physician to a Dutch settlement in Brazil between 1633 and 1644. The work was first published in 1648 and although the woodcuts are reproductions from the first edition, the text has been rewritten.
