One of the most important botanical works ever published. George Clifford, a wealthy Dutch banker, had appointed Linnaeus as superintendant of his botanic gardens at Hartekamp near Haarlem. This was Linnaeus' first detailed catalogue of cultivated plants and remains his most beautiful work. It was published at Clifford's expense. Few copies have the coloured plates called for by Nissen.
