The broken pediment with moulded and dentilled cornice, fitted with an arched glazed door flanked by spirally-turned columns with gilt-metal capitals and enclosing a brass dial, with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture and silvered chapter-ring, inscribed in the arch John Stewart, Stirling, the case fitted with a satinwood crossbanded rectangular door, inlaid with a central oval medallion of a bird of prey flanked by canted spirally-turned columns, the panelled base on a moulded plinth with ogee bracket feet
