In the match against Northern Ireland, played on 4th October 1958 at Belfast, England and Northern Ireland drew 3-3, with England's goals being scored by Charlton (2) and Finney. In the match against Wales, played on 26th November 1958 at Birmingham, England and Wales drew 2-2, with England's goals being scored by Broadbent (2). In the match against Scotland, played on 11th April 1959 at Wembley, England defeated Scotland 1-0, the only goal being scored by Charlton.

The above cap and in particular the match against Scotland, represents the historic 100th England International appearance by Billy Wright. In doing so, Billy Wright became the first-ever player world-wide to make 100 International apppearances for his country. It was his 85th match as England skipper and of the 100 matches, England had won 59, drawn 22 and lost 19
