Dressing-table items in pearwood of this type and period are commonly refered to as Cesar Bagard work. It is, however, highly unlikely that this celebrated sculptor would have produced such wares in great quantity. In fact, the so-called Cesar Bagard wood-ware might more appropriately be seen as a translation of the silver-ware of the Louis XIV period.
