EARLY HAND-MADE PUZZLE PURSE VALENTINE
A water-colour pen and ink puzzle card, the front with a large red heart and verse around the border reads 'My dear the heart which you behold/Will break when you the same unfold/Even so my heart with love sick pain/Sure wounded is and breaks in twaine', each fold opens to reveal another verse or part verse and finally a centre with four hearts, on the other side a long verse 'In this inside sweet Turtle Dove/I've wrote a moral of my love/To the dear and only Joy/Requite me now and be not coy/Banish my rivals from you sight/And with your love now me requite/Cupid's my guide and soes my hand detect/To write to you whom I so much respect/You are my dear the centre of my Joy....' folded 4¼ x 4¼in., circa 1790; and three greetings cards
