The four racing yachts pictured above epitomise the classic elegance of Cowes as it was in the Edwardian era. Each of them was as graceful as she was fast and all were owned by great yachting personalities. Waterwich, the largest at 352 tons, belonged to Major Cecil Whitaker and Cetonia to Lord Iveagh. Germania was owned by Herr Krupp von Bohlen whilst Meteor was built and raced by the German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II. One of the most competititve yachtsmen of the years immediately prior to the Great War, the Kaiser owned five magnificent racing yachts each of which was successively christened Meteor.
