Hugh Stannus Stannus (1877-1957)Hugh Stannus was appointed medical officer to the King's African Rifles in 1905 and was later posted to Zomba in Nyasaland. His study of the ethnology and anthroplogy of the tribes of the area resulted in many publications, most notably a monograph on the Wayao (published 1922). He returned to England at the end of the First World War at which time his health prevented him from taking up further appointments in Africa.
