The necklace is sold with an old label inscribed: This little shell necklace, (made by the native girls at Cape Barren, a very remote part of Australia) I thought might interest you. It was sent to me by the Governor, who with his wife and a married friend is magistrate, doctor, minister and undertaker!! being the only white men there
