Of rectangular section, the censer is well-cast with mythical beasts rising out of the sea and galloping across turbulent waves, the shorter sides with a pair of lion mask handles suspending rings, supported on a lotus lappet foot, the domed openwork cover cast in high relief with dragons and phoenix amidst swirling clouds, and surmounted with a knop finial cast as a dragon coiled around a 'flaming pearl', the base with an apocryphal Xuande six-character mark, all supported on an original bronze stand
