Mathurin Moreau (1822-1912) was part of a family of sculptors, initially educated by his father Jean Baptiste, he enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in 1841. Exhibiting from 1848 onwards, he received numerous awards. He is best remembered for his classical and allegorical bronzes.
