A Rare Jizhou-Type 'Tortoiseshell'-Glazed Stoneware Conical Bowl
Southern Song dynasty, 13th century
The thinly potted, widely flared sides covered on the interior with a translucent russet glaze splashed with a clear olive glaze falling in tear-drops from the rim towards the center, the similar glaze on the exterior more opaque and of darker tone and falling short of the shallow, thick foot ring to expose the fine-grained ware of pale grey color
