A TRANSITIONAL ORMOLU-MOUNTED TULIPWOOD AND MARQUETRY TABLE A LA BOURGOGNE by Pierre Roussel, the rounded rectangular low- galleried top inlaid with a capriccio scene of ruined buildings and a river with figures, within a border banded in amaranth and inlaid with ribbon-tied laurels, the angles with flowerheads and the top centred by an associated inlaid coat-of-arms, the front edge with musical symbols, the front with one long apron drawer and inlaid sans traverse with an amaranth-bordered cartouche depicting a village scene with figures, flanked to each side by pendant symbols of hunting, both sides inlaid sans traverse with an urn beneath a drapery canopy, the right side with one deep narrow drawer and the left with two narrow drawers, the back inlaid with flowers, the top sliding forward to reveal a spring-loaded rising supertstructure, its rectangular top banded with amaranth and tulipwood and centred by musical trophies flanked by flowers, the front with six drawers inlaid sans traverse with flowers and birds above a band of green-stained panels, the sides and reverse inlaid with entwined flowers, between keeled angles headed by pierced foliate mounts and on square cabriole legs and foliate sabots, stamped P. ROUSSEL and JME, the interior of the superstructure section with inscription in red paint B.J., the long apron drawer branded 1505., with fragments of a printed paper label Fürst/31, the right side drawer formerly with sliding top, remounted, the top centre drawer in the supertsructure relined and adapted from two drawers
