The brand of Pierre Roussel (maître 1745), who was noted as a celebrated ébéniste in L'Almanach de Vray Merite, 1769, appears on a commode of related 1760's Transitional style, that is similarly embellished in the antique manner with Greek-fretted ribbons enclosing vignettes of veil-festooned sacred-urns, (see P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIII Siecle, Paris 1989, p.741). e
