The present bronze was based on the wood carving entitled Pierced form (Epidauros). B.290 which was executed in scented guarea wood with additional colouring by the Artist in 1960. Some small modifications were made to the sculpture for the bronze version. Other examples of the present sculpture are exhibited at St. Ives and in the Niedersächsische Landesgalerie, Hanover.
