This picture is sold with a photocopy of a certificate, dated November 1941, by Wilhelm Suida, who places it in the Zips region of Upper Hungary and Czechoslovakia and considers it probably the work of the 'Martinus' who signed (and dated 1491) a Virgin and Child in Bratislava (Pressburg). Martinus is documented from 1485 to 1507 (see A. Stange, Deutsche Malerei der Gotik, XI, Munich and Berlin, 1961, pp.147 and 152)
