The guns were completed circa 1912 and were built to replace a similar trio dating from 1903.

The extra barrels for guns No. 1 and No. 2, which appear to be unused, have been correctly fitted-in, but it would appear that the guns have not been proved for use with the extra barrels; rechambering to 2¾in. and the provision of one further set of barrels for the No. 3 gun would give a most varied selection of specifications.
