The rifle was completed circa 1919 and appears to have been little used. Holland & Holland 'Royal' double rifles are characterized by short lockplates with back-action mechanisms which were introduced to strengthen the actions of their double-rifles. This particularly nice example of a 'Royal' is unusual in having true backlocks without any extension of the lockplates into the action-bar
