A VIENNA-STYLE CLARET-GROUND TWO-HANDLED BALUSTER VASE, painted by Wagner with Schmiede des Vulcan, the god seated among clouds, draped in a red robe and with his sword swathed in green ribbon, attended by two scantily clad maidens, a cherub and doves of peace, the scene enclosed within a gilt quatrefoil cartouche outlined with flowers and leaves, the ground richly gilt with a band of diaper reserved with leaf arabesques suspending ribbon-tied swags of flowers flanked by leaves and fixed laurel-wreaths suspended from the handles, the lower body moulded with a band of spiralling gadroons above a flared stem and shaped square base (minute flaking to gilding), artist's signature, iron-red script, beehive mark and Germany in green, France mark, circa 1900
