A NYMPHENBURG TWO-HANDLED TAPERING OVAL PAIL AND DOMED COVER in the Frankenthal style, with a striped multiple leaf finial, the pail painted with a magnificent pheasant spreading its tail-feathers, perched on a grassy bank beside rocks and shrubs, flanked by luxuriant, loose and meandering bouquets of garden flowers suspended from shells painted below the shell and scroll-moulded loop handles, the reverse with four finches perched on slender leafy branches issuing from a stump, the cover similarly painted with meandering flowers issuing from an upturned wicker basket beside shrubs and a sinuous branch on which an eagle is perched, the rim with a shaped puce hatched and chequered band edged with rococo scrolls, shells, flowers, foliage and feuilles-de-choux, the rim of the pail painted to imitate green malachite and the foot to simulate agate (minor wear to paint on border), impressed shield mark and Pressnummer 1 090, circa 1860?? 20¾in. (52.5cm.) high
