A WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING RIFLE with signed and dated swamped octagonal sighted barrel (back-sight missing) rifled with seven grooves and struck at the breech with maker's mark (Neue Støckel 1042), flat lock with annular wheel-bracket, figured walnut full stock and patch-box cover carved in relief with scenes of the chase within landscapes enriched by flat panels inlaid with staghorn plaques engraved with animals within staghorn ovals, the cheek-piece with a bear in a landscape, on the underside of the stock the carved arms of Raitz von Frentz surmounted by two helms, and a horn-inlaid smoke escape hole, iron trigger-guard, set trigger, pierced and engraved staghorn ramrod-pipe, engraved staghorn fore-end cap, plain staghorn butt-plate, and horn-tipped ramrod, the barrel by Hans Stifter of Prague and dated 1660
