AN ORMOLU MOUNTED, MARQUETRY AND LAPIS LAZULI WORK TABLE, the hinged top centred by a foliate marquetry inlay on a sycamore ground, banded in harewood and boxwood, with a ribbon-tied foliate marquetry panel to each side with four flower-filled panels, intersected by flower heads, the interior inset with a mirror and with a baize lined pull-out secretaire drawer and with shaped lift-out compartments, the frieze centred by a cartouche escutcheon and applied with ormolu mounted panels and foliate drops, the sides each inset with a marquetry ribbon panels and a lapis panel, the back with a marquetry trellis panel, the underside with a pull-out well, on fluted tapering legs with pierced undertier and toupie feet, late 19th century/early 20th century

This Louis XVI style work-table (table à ouvrage en coffret), with columnar legs and floral marquetry incorporating a pastoral trophy of musical instruments, in the style of J. H. Riesener (d. 1806), is mounted with marble plaques like a 19th century table at Waddesdon Manor, (G. de Bellaigue, Furniture .. at Waddesdon Manor, 1974, Vol. II, p. 121).
