Celebrating the Triumph of Love, this reed-and-flower festooned clock's 'picturesque' style was inspired by a Loius XV model depicting Cupid attending Europa's enlevement by Jupiter in the guise of a bull, as recounted in Ovid's Metamorphoses. In this case, the trumpeting elephant evolved from a Japanese 17th century porcelain model.
