A PAIR OF BRASS-MOUNTED POLYCHROME AND GILT-JAPANNED CABINETS-ON-STAND, each decorated to top and sides with an extensive chinoiserie landscape of mountains, trees, houses, figures and boatmen within greek-key-pattern borders, the rectangular top above a pair of doors enclosing an interior of eight variously-sized drawers decorated with chinoiserie boatmen and landscapes, the reverses of the doors with vases of flowers, the sides with flowers and birds and carrying-handles, with waved apron and bracket feet in the Japanese style, on a William and Mary giltwood stand with gadrooned edge, double-arched apron and on pierced channelled square tapering legs headed by acanthus and joined by a stepped scrolled X-shaped stretcher centred by a gadrooned flaming urn finial, on gadrooned feet, one cabinet Chinese, late 17th Century with English japanning (the drawers with character marks), the other English late 17th 18th Century (cedar-lined drawers), extensive redecoration and the stands re-gilded
