Mary was the second daughter and eventually the sole heiress of Francis, Earl of Godolphin, and grand-daughter of the 1st Duke of Marlborough. On 26 June 1740 she married Thomas, 4th Duke of Leeds (1713-1789). Their only surviving son Francis Godolphin succeeded as 5th Duke. Mary died on 3 August 1764.
