Peyrot lists the present work as a view of Constantinople from Eijub, with the ruins of Bisanzio, the Quarter of Stanbul in the background, Beyoglu and Scutari. Comparison with topographical details and with 18th Century engravings suggests it is likely to be Smyrna.
