The blade mitsu-mune, hira-zukuri with double grooves (bo-hi ni soe-hi) beneath a bonji character on the omote, ken on the ura, slight curve (sori) forged with ko-itame tempered edge, slight midare of ko-nie, kaeri boshi, tang machi-okuri, signed Yamato daijo Fujiwara Masanori, 31.2cm., in shirasaya; the mounts vermilion lacquered saya decorated with stylized waves in black, kaeri, kojiri, kurikata and fuchi-kashira all in shibuichi carved and decorated with flowers and river landscape with chidori shibuichi kozuka decorated with a hut beside a harbour, signed Hosono Sozaemon Masamori, tsuka of plain same, hilt with gilt menuki of stylized clouds
