In brass-bound mahogany case inlaid with bands of alternating anthemion and lyres, the cover set with an escutcheon enclosed by a wreath, the front inlaid with winged gryphons flanking the lock plate and, on the lid, with winged sea horses, the interior fitted with numerous silver accessories including a pair of deep octagonal boxes with bright-cut borders, a pair of faceted cylindrical cups with ebonized handles and plain circular saucers, Paris, 1809-1819, by Martin-Guillaume Biennais, and a cylindrical chocolate pot with turned ebonized side handle, a pair of faceted candlesticks applied with anthemion, a circular hand candlestick with palmette handle, an oval shaving-dish with detachable neck-notch, an oval teapot chased with anthemion, with ebonized scroll handle and straight spout, the interior containing a similar oval tea caddy, the cover with acanthus finial and a rectangular wafer box, Paris, 1798-1809, by Marie-Joseph Gabriel Genu; together with a silver bell, applied with openwinged eagles frieze, honeysuckle, paterae and stars and with rooster form handle, apparently without maker's mark, four various cut-glass decanters with silver-gilt covers engraved for Rhum, Malaga, Marasquin and Madere, and four other various cut-glass bottles with silver-gilt covers, two silver-gilt tumbler cups, a silver-gilt eye bath, and numerous silver, steel and ivory implements, including a silver Butterfield-type pocket sundial signed Chapotot à Paris, the case flange signed Biennais Orfèvre de SS.
