The composition follows the engraving by Jan Saenredam after Goltzius (Bartsch, IV, p. 394, no. 78). The print is the sixth plate in the series depicting The Gods of the Seven Planets. The ovals in the sky, left blank in the present lot, show the signs of the Zodiac of Mercury in the print: Virgo upper left, Gemini upper right
