Francis Bruguière became greatly interested in photography after a trip to New York where he met Alfred Stieglitz and Frank Eugene Smith. He became a member of the Photo Secession and began experimenting with abstract and multiple exposure photography. In 1918 he moved to New York City where he continued to experiment with light. This background was for the film Light Rhythms which was his last experiment with light abstractions.
