maker's mark of Eliza Godfrey, London, 1758

Each on shaped square base with incurved sides, with fluted column stem, openwork Corinthian capital socket and detachable shaped-square nozzle, with gadrooned and fluted borders, each later engraved with a crest below an Earl's coronet, marked under bases and on two nozzles - 10½in. (29.5cm.) high

The crest is probably that of Meade, for John, 1st Earl of Clanwilliam (1744-1800), created Baron Gilford and Earl of Viscount Clanwillin in 1766 and Earl of Clanwilliam in 1776. (4)
