The Infanta Maria Isabella of Spain, Queen of Naples, her curly brown hair falling in a long coil on to her left shoulder and adorned with a gold pin, wearing a gold chain with red clasp and a white muslin dress tied at her arms with gold bracelets, decorated with the badge of the Starry Cross Order and with the sash of the Royal Spanish Order of Maria-Luisa; rectangular -- 42 x 32 mm, on a base of plaited hair set with a mother-of-pearl plaque engraved with a dedication, within a gilt-metal mount.

Doña Maria Isabella (1789-1848), daughter of King Ferdinand IV of Spain and his wife Maria-Luisa (see lot 371), was married in 1802 to the future Francis I, King of the Two-Sicilies, son of King Ferdinand IV of Naples and his wife Maria Carolina of Habsburg. The dedication of this miniature, addressed to the sitter's mother, the Queen of Spain, reads: "Questa, che in breve avorio Immagin miri espressa, Madre, son io, ravvisami Tu in cor mi porti impressa."
