A companion view of Windsor Castle and Town from the South was at the R.A. in 1788, no.480. It is now in the Rhode Island School of Design (exh. there in Selection III: British Watercolours and Drawings from the Museum's Collection, April-May 1972, no.26, repr.). Both were engraved by Samuel Alken and published by Richard Cooper on 1st May 1789. In the 1780s Cooper was apparently Alexander Cozens's successor as Drawing Master at Eton College and he also taught members of the royal family, so he would have had plenty of opportunities to do sketches of Windsor
