Decorated in hiramakie, takamakie and inlaid in mother-of-pearl, the upper front panel with cockerels and chicks among bushes beneath a cherry tree, the cover similarly decorated within a shaped panel, the reverse with a goose on a wave, the lower front door panel with pavillions on a river seen through an arch and cherry tree, the reverse with kikyo and hagi, the interior with six drawers, one with kikyo within an arch, the sides with kikyo and hagi by a fence and a crane flying over, the back panel with scrolling foliage, all panels bordered with shippo pattern, copper gilt kanagu and lock plates (old damage and repairs), late 16th/early 17th century
