The bearded male saint with draped collar with scroll chased pin, his shoulders chased with scrolls and scalework within applied zigzag and scroll borders, the front with a vacant oval cartouche, apparently unmarked--8in.(20cm.) high

The mixture of baroque with mannerist motifs on the saint's cloak is typical of Mexican work of the middle of the 17th century, following the aragonese tradition established there by silversmiths such as Domingo de Orona at the beginning of the century.
