A GEORGE III SILVER TWO HANDLED, COVERED, TEA URN, London, 1770, maker's mark probably that of David Whyte (Grimwade, p. 251, no. 3535), ovoid, the raised and molded shaped square base, short stem, broad borders to the body and waisted detachable cover, chased with panels of graduated flutes, the base raised on four claw and ball feet, with pierced paterae apron between, with panelled spout and ivory foliate handle, the body applied with panel engraved with crest, within engraved tied floral wreath surround, with two florally joined beaded wirework handles, the cover with further beading and topped by flame form finial--21in.
