The present miniature was painted in Sweden, the same year as Bossi's portrait of Baroness Elsa Maria Munck (G. Cavalli-Björkman, Svenskt Miniaturmaleri, Stockholm, 1981, p. 132, No. 128).

The sitter has been identified as Count Johan Otto Wrangel af Sausis (1777-1847). He was a Chamberlain at the Swedish Court.
