Of oval cylindrical form, with beaded rims, the body bright-cut engraved with foliate swags enclosing, on one side, an oval laurel and ribbon cartouche engraved with initials EM, between foliate and wrigglework bands, with tapering straight spout with similar foliage and wood scroll handle, the hinged domed cover with similar foliate band and with wood finial, engraved under base 1776, marked under base and on cover--9 3/4in. (24.7cm.) long
