A VICTORIAN SILVER SIX-LIGHT CANDELABRUM CENTERPIECE
LONDON, 1849, MAKER'S MARK OF THE BARNARD BROS.

The incurved pedestal base raised on three massive sweeping acanthus and shell scroll feet joined at the rim by foliate scrolls and rocaille enclosing three panelled sides, one engraved with a presentation inscription, another applied with a coat-of-arms and helm within foliate mantling and the third with a crest and motto, supporting three freestanding classical figures surrounding the openwork entwined foliate grapevine central standard rising to a calyx of leaves and grapes from which issue three removable bifurcated scrolling foliate grapevine branches supporting similar foliate grape drip-pans below vase-shaped foliate sockets with removable circular nozzles (one lacking), and a central shaped circular wirework basket applied with a band of leaves and a trailing foliate grapevine rim, fully marked--28 1/4in. (71.7cm.) high
