LONDON, 1922, MAKER'S MARK OF OMAR RAMSDEN, DESIGNED AND MODELLED BY SYDNEY HOUGHTON FOR MR. AND MRS. HENRY FORD
Realistically formed as a 15th century three-masted carrack, the sides chased with panels of fruit and foliage, the forecastle and sterncastle chased with the coats-of-arms of Spain, Castile, Seville, Leon, Barcelona, Portugal, Oporto, Lisbon, Genoa, Venice, Pisa, England , St. George, Bristol, Kent, Plymouth, Devon, London, Whiteby, Holland, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the six sails finely enamelled with cherub heads blowing the trade winds, St. Michael, a winged figure surmounting the globe, Neptune seated on his piscine throne, North, Central and South American Indians, and African tribesmen, an Eskimo and a Viking, signs of the Zodiac and various mottos Vision, Enterprise, Courage, Sacrifice, Obedience, Truth and Fortitude, with meticulously rigging, the bowsprit surmounted by the figure of St. Christopher, marked on hull, deck, masts, blocks and rigging, the keel inscribed MADE IN ENGLAND--overall length 25in.
