This tsuba has many of the characteristics of the Tsuchiya Yasuchika family school. It was made in Edo by one of the students or followers of the school.

AN EDO KINKO SCHOOL TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1775)
The oval polished brass plate has a slightly raised rim, and is carved in relief and openwork with the figure of Hotei in a punt, with a child at his feet next to his sack. Hotei points to a silver moon in clouds at the top left on face of the plate. The reverse depicts Hotei's back with clouds and a stream in low relief carving--height 7.7cm., width 7.5cm., thickness 5.25mm.
