Decorated in gold takamaki-e with phoenixes and lush flowers on a black ground lavishly sprinkled with nashiji with a red lacquer 'cord' in the center of the lid which is pulled and knotted, the overall decoration simulating gathered cloth, the interior decorated with further flower sprays on a dense nashiji ground, the base roiro-nuri, brocade outer bag- 4 5/8 in. (11.7 cm.) diameter
